Frequently Asked Questions

  • We fill propane tanks to 70% in warmer weather and 80% in winter to account for temperature fluctuations. Propane expands in warmer temperatures, so leaving space in the tank helps prevent overfilling and potential safety risks. During colder months, propane contracts, so we fill tanks to 80% to ensure an adequate supply. However, we can fill underground tanks to 80% year-round since they are less affected by temperature changes.

  • You can plan your propane needs by reviewing past usage and considering the upcoming winter weather. To estimate your propane usage, we’ve provided a helpful yearly usage chart (Safety and Information > Yearly Usage Chart). on our website. This chart allows you to track how many gallons you typically use based on the number of fills you receive throughout the year. It’s a great tool to help you get a clearer idea of your propane needs, so you can plan ahead. If you’re unsure or need more specific guidance, feel free to reach out to us.

  • Switching to Acorn LPG is quick and easy. Once you contact us, we set up your account and provide an estimated delivery date for the tank swap. On the scheduled day, our crane truck arrives to replace your existing tank with an Acorn LPG certified tank, pre-filled with 5% propane. We also relocate the other company's tank to your preferred location. Delivery is usually completed the same or next day for a smooth transition.

  • The Pre-buy option allows you to pay for your propane upfront in a lump sum, securing the price for the entire year. Since it's paid in full, we can offer a slightly lower price per gallon. The Lock-in option, on the other hand, requires a 10% deposit to secure the current price, with the remaining 90% due upon delivery. The Lock-in option allows more flexibility with payment, but the Pre-buy option offers a better rate due to the upfront payment. Please visit our Terms of Service page to review the Pre-Buy and Lock-In Terms.

  • No. We regret to inform you that we are unable to safely fill grill and cylinder tanks due to the absence of a scale in our facility. The use of a scale is crucial for accurately measuring and determining the amount of propane in each tank. Without a scale, we cannot ensure precise fill levels, posing potential safety risks associated with overfilling.
